Brockton - December 14, 2025
Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team that served in Brockton on Sunday. We had volunteers from: Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, Beacon Covenant Church, Attleboro, St. Mary's Foxboro, and Grace Chapel.
It was a cold, snowy day on Sunday in Brockton. The bad weather kept many of our friends under cover or indoors so we only served 47 people in two locations. However, for those we met spirits were up and smiles were on as we were able to share a hot meal, hot drinks, homemade baked goods, and fresh fruit, along with clothes for our friends who are living in some rough situations. Our friend Bruins John gave the team a package of Kleenex because last week Deb had the sniffles. (We love the relationships that develop.)
There were numerous prayer requests as you can see from the following list.
At Perkins Park...
- Michelle sang "Silent Night" for us with her beautiful voice. She seems really scared. Needs to go to the hospital for treatment but is terrified of hospitals. We prayed for "Bravery in seeking treatment and that she might experience God's peace and healing."
- Will has stage 4 cancer. Seemed really positive and at peace saying he, "Knows where he's going." He asked that I pray for the "longevity of his children" and that he can maintain his sobriety (9 years) as he deals with the pain associated with cancer.
- Joanne had a long talk with Andrea. (She did not look good.)
- Maria was thankful for the coat we gave her. She prayed prayers of gratitude for her beautiful new red coat and prayers of gratitude for her daughter and grandson. She also prayed for their well-being.
At the Shetler,,,
- Tyric is going to court tomorrow and prays that the charges will be dismissed. He prays that the judge has a heart of compassion and gives him another chance.
- Stephanie is praying for housing and a job. She'd really like to work as a phlebotomist again or doing personal care.
- Mike is going through a divorce. He prays things go well at court this week.
- Kim is wheelchair bound making finding housing very difficult. She prays she finds a place that is accessible.
Thank you to all those who contributed in so many ways to bring in warmth and joy to our friends on the streets of Brockton.
