Attleboro - December 13, 2025
Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team at Beacon Covenant Church, Attleboro that served In Attleboro on Saturday.
It was a cold and windy, but beautiful day to be out serving our friends in Attleboro. It was a special day to be serving for LYNN Ministries, which is celebrating its 15th Anniversary this month, serving God's children in Brockton, Attleboro, and Taunton (for several years). We are truly humbled to be a part of this ministry, which is all about Loving Your Neighbor Now. LYNN Ministries seeks to obey God's commandment in Matthew 22:39 to "love your neighbor as yourself", and to fulfill Jesus' words in Matthew 25:35, "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I needed clothes and you clothed me..." For Beacon Covenant Church, this Saturday, was our 4th Anniversary of serving as a part of LYNN Ministries. It is a privilege for us to help serve as part of this ministry, and our team also includes folks from other churches in the area, such as Second Congregational Church of Attleboro, UCC and St.John the Evangelist Church both of Attleboro, as well as Arabic Evangelical Baptist Church Of Boston. It truly takes a village.
We served about 60 people this month, which may be the most we've ever served in Attleboro, as the need just keeps growing, month after month. We know it was this much, because we gave out 50 Christmas gifts, and ran out. Fortunately, God provided some extra items that we were able to put together, so that we could give out gifts to another 10 or so folks.
The Joy of the season, was evident as we were able to give out 50 Christmas gifts to our friends. The Christmas gifts were very much appreciated, and special in that so many people from Beacon Covenant Church helped to put them together, and many items were donated. Each Christmas gift contained a $10 Dunkin Donuts card, a $15 Laundromat card, packets of laundry detergent, a warm, knit hat, a pair of gloves, a warm pair of socks, a hand-written Christmas card, and some candy. Thanks to Ocean State Job Lot for donating the hats, gloves, and socks, the Women's Bible Study Group, Mission and Outreach committee, and several generous church members donated Dunkin Donuts cards. These gifts really brought some joy to our friends. Appreciate you all. Many of our friends wanted to wish Merry Christmas back to you all.
In past years, by this time, many folks living outside have found temporary housing, but it does not seem to be the case this year. We think there are still between 20-30 folks living outside, and with the city dismantling one of the tent villages where people were able to live in community and help each other, the homelessness problem does not seem to be getting much better, even with a new shelter opening less than a year ago. We need to keep praying and advocating for our friends who do not have a roof over their head.
We were a bit short-handed this month at the last minute, so there was not as much opportunity for prayer, and fewer pictures. The warming center does not have the capacity to be open every night, and the shelters are full. As far as prayer, we pray that the following folks living outside, will be able to find some kind of housing, or real shelter very soon: Beth & Geno, George Jr., Bob, Eric & Carrie, Robert, Nick, Nico, James, Josh, Val, Dana, Matt, Bob, and Mark, and those are the ones we know. Eric & Carrie ask for prayers for a new start, perhaps in a new location with family. Prayers for John (Jack or Dino) on his improved relationship with his daughter getting stronger. Prayers for Patricia and her family remaining connected to her. She's in contact pretty regularly with her grandson and granddaughter. Prayers for Stephanie and her two young daughters, who we met for the first time. We think they have housing at this time, but pray for that to continue.
We're so thankful to all of you for your continued prayers and contributions to this ministry. We are truly blessed to have you all helping us serve in this ministry for God's children. Thanks for prayer and all of your other contributions. God Bless you, and Merry Christmas!
