Brockton - April 18, 2026

Here is an update from LYNN Ministries team that served on Saturday in Brockton. They served meals to 59 of our friends, although many came just for clothes and toiletries. Saturday’s team included volunteers from Church of Emmanuel, Grace Chapel, Arabic Evangelical Baptist Church Of Boston, and others.

Saturday was cool and overcast in Brockton. Not as many of our friends made their way to meet us as we'd hoped. We arrived at our Court Street stop and set up to serve delicious chicken soup, fruit and snacks for our friends. Sheila was the first to greet us and was happy to take our group photo. There was a steady flow of people, and we were able to have some meaningful conversations and prayer.

Then we went to the bridges and one person joined us for a meal and clothing. As we were serving, a woman pushing a shopping cart holding all her belongings stopped by and we tried to serve her. She shared that her name was Nyla, she was from New York and had been in Brockton for two months. She misses her two sons. Nyla was agitated and not able to interact for very long before she ran off shouting at us in what felt like embarrassed anger. As she left, we stopped and prayed for God's peace and deliverance for her. Nyla is a tormented soul and needs our continued prayers.

At Spring Street, we saw Kenny, who we've known for at least 13 years, and he was very upset as he's been locked out of his bank account since April 1. Someone is helping him regain access, but we were able to provide for some immediate needs.

Finally we served our friends at the shelter and enjoyed several conversations and prayer opportunities.

Below are a few of the prayer requests:

- Devin asked for prayer for better communication skills and his spiritual journey. Right now he only believed in a higher power that can't be understood with words. We encouraged him to read the gospel of John, as he does have a Bible.

- Junior asked that we pray for his health. He has diabetes and has lost a lot of weight recently. We prayed that he would make better decisions and that God would show him the way. We also prayed that he would reconnect with his brother.

- Koby is getting his paperwork together so that he can work. He's also improving with his English skills. We prayed for God to bless and provide for him. Afterwards, he asked for a trash bag to collect everyone's trash left over from the meals we served.

- Anthony was sitting in the Jeep that he sleeps in. He shared that he turned 30 in December. He's hoping for more plumbing work so he can save money and get a place of his own.

- Jordan is a very respectful young man but would not let us pray for him. He joked that one time he made the mistake of allowing someone to pray for him to have more patience. Please pray for him anyway.

- Anna shared that the funeral for her younger sister had occurred in her home country and was feeling better about everything. She had been very distraught about the financial and personal obligations.

We thank you all for making it possible to serve our friends on the streets.
