Jesus on the Streets (on a gorgeous day) - August 28, 2022

Here’s a report from the team that served on Sunday.

It was a beautiful day for Service and we saw a lot of new faces. Hooray!

With sunny skies, temps in the 80's and a lovely breeze, it was a beautiful day to serve our friends on the streets of Brockton. Lots of people asked about Deb and Jeep who, for the first time since the beginning of the ministry 12 years ago, took two weeks off in a row to celebrate a personal milestone (30 years of marriage). As a team we were afraid some folks might be anxious or disappointed by their absence but instead, our friends expressed gratitude that Deb and Jeep were able to have some time away and they all said they looked forward to seeing them again next week.

This week we welcomed Kathleen to the team who jumped right in and quickly connected with the team and those we serve. It is obvious she has a heart for those who live on the streets.

We served 96 meals and people were especially thankful for the cornbread and fresh fruit today. Overall, people were in a good mood even though many struggled with deeply frustrating, painful and difficult situations.

Dave prayed with Anthony asking God to help him, make important decisions regarding treatment options for a serious illness.

Regina asked for prayers that she might get housing in an upcoming housing lottery. (Receiving approval for housing is just the start because you must then find an affordable apartment.)

Sheila prayed that she might be able to have some visitation with her kids.

Sami is going to work every day with terrible back pain and is looking forward to an injection that will ease his pain.

We saw Bobby and Andrea for the first time in weeks and they shared some very sad news. Prayers are appreciated.

Two new guests showed up at the library today. A beautiful 7 year old boy who served as a translator for his father. When we asked if they wanted us to pray for them, the boy launched into a beautiful prayer thanking God for the food and the people who were serving it. When the boy translated his prayer for his father, the father beamed with joy. Of course, our hearts all melted.

As is often the case, we hit the streets to serve others and find ourselves being ministered to in the process!

Thank you to all those who make LYNN Ministries possible!
