Attleboro - November 9, 2024
Here’s an update from the LYNN Ministries team at Evangelical Covenant Church, Attleboro that served in Attleboro on Saturday.
Saturday was another beautiful day to be out serving the Lord in Attleboro. It is always a joy to have the ECC Youth Group join us as part of their Homeless Awareness Weekend (HAW) ministry. They made up our entire team this month, and got to experience a lot in the lives of the people for whom they also raise funds. After serving with LYNN, they went out on the streets of Attleboro, panhandling to raise money for the homeless, and raised well over $500, which will go to local organizations that advocate for the homeless in the Attleboro area. Great job by Pastor Chris, the youth group leaders, Lars, Ellen, and Sarah, and all of the youth!
We only saw about 25 folks this month, due to a scheduling issue with the soup kitchen, where we normally serve 20-30 people. In addition to seeing some folks at that location, we did go visit our friends living outside in 2 campground areas. We were able to serve men’s and women’s clothing, special orders, fruit, snacks, homemade baked goods, encouragement, and prayer to our friends.
- Prayers for Beth and Geno, who are getting married this coming Friday! May God bless them on their new life together.
- Prayers for Eric and Carrie, who have rebuilt their campsite after the fire last month, and are still trying to take steps forward. They are worried that they may lose their spot, when construction resumes at the train station.
- Prayers for John, who has gone back into the hospital. John is also living outside, and having a hard time staying healthy.
- We saw Richie, who is still missing our friend, Rhonda. Richie had lost his room, and was living outside in the large tent village, but now has his room back.
- Prayers for Charlie, Mike, Jess, Val, Paul, John, Eric, Carrie, Beth, Geno, Debbie, George and Ron who are all living outside, and really starting to think that they will all be outside all winter.
- Pray that the new shelter is completed very soon, so that at least some of our friends will find a warm spot to live.
We did not see Bob, Sandy, or Derek, and are hoping they may have found some housing in Taunton. Thanks to all of you for your great support of this ministry. All the prayers are felt by us, and the people that we serve.
