Attleboro - January 11, 2025

Sorry for the late post. Here’s a report from the LYNN Ministries team at Beacon Covenant Church, Attleboro that served on Saturday.

Saturday was a beautiful, albeit cold and snowy day to be out serving about 35 of our friends in Attleboro. We were able to serve them with homemade baked goods, fruit, snacks, clothing, toiletries, and delivered some special orders of winter coats and boots. Folks are getting more and more nervous about living outside all winter, as the new shelter is delayed again, and still not open. There is hope it could be open in February. To compound their suffering, the warming center was closed due to financial reasons (not lack of volunteers) during the coldest nights last week. It has since re-opened, but only on nights when the temperatures are 20 degrees or below, which is a big change from the 32 degrees it was a few years ago.

Fortunately, it does appear that some folks we knew were outside, have been able to find temporary shelter with family or friends, but sadly not all of them.

- Continued prayers are needed for our friends living outside as of now - Paul, Mike, Jess, Derek, Sandy, Bob, George, Eric, Carrie, Beth, Gino, and Val. We hope all are able to find shelter on the coldest nights this winter.

- Prayers are needed for John and his sister who cares for him.

- Prayers for Carrie who is living outside and alone at the moment.

- Paul needs prayers of encouragement, as he did not expect to be outside all winter, and it is getting tougher and tougher for him. Still, he's in good spirits and loves seeing us, and praying with us.

- We did have some good news to share: Jim, who had been really suffering for a long time with alcohol, has been sober for 2 years, attending his program, and back in church. He looked and sounded great, and was thankful for the work boots we were able to provide.

- We also celebrated Patricia (Miss L) and surprised her with a birthday cake (thanks to Brian). She was surprised, but very happy. She remains in contact with her grandson, but she just lost the second of her two daughters. She is now left with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She still works every day at the Hobby store in Attleboro, and loves when we visit. Please pray for her happiness.

Thank you to all the LYNN Ministries volunteers and supporters who have helped us serve the least of these for more than 14 years!
