Attleboro - August 10, 2024
Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team from Evangelical Covenant Church, Attleboro, who served today in Attleboro.
It was a gorgeous, although very hot day to be out serving our friends in Attleboro. We served about 45 people at our tables or in the woods. With so much rain the last week, the tent areas were really wet, and as mentioned before, the rain and heat can be the toughest parts of living outside. Those numbers just seem to be climbing month after month. This month, we visited two “tent villages”, where there were thirteen tents at one, and four at a second location. We know of nineteen people now that we are serving, who are living outside, these are their names, and they need prayer for housing: Val, Tina, Debby, Derek, Sandy, Paul, Gino, Beth, John, Justin, Bob, Mike, Jessica, Julianna, Charlie, George, Eric, Carrie, and Corey, who may be on the streets in Boston, and not in a great way. These are the ones who we know, and can help, but the number that we don’t know, or who live in different parts of the city, is even greater. There are great hopes for the new shelter, and we hope that there will be room for all of the people we serve.
The following folks are also in need of prayer: Eric and Carrie, who are in need of hospitalization, and appear malnourished. Corey that he is safe, in Boston, or wherever he may be. Julio, who is looking hard for a job, and also protection for his family, as someone tried to get into their apartment. Justin for healing of his ankle, that has had fusion surgery, and left him in a wheelchair.
In many respects, it was a tough day of serving for the team, as conditions seem to be worsening for some of our friends. We know God’s “got this”, and we look forward to his divine grace and intervention for these folks. Thank you to each and every one of you, for your support of this ministry, through prayer, cooking, packing clothes, packing toiletries, donations, getting donations from companies, baking, serving, and just caring. We appreciate you all.
