Jesus on the Streets - September 18, 2022
Here’s a report from the LYNN Ministries team that served on Sunday, September 18. Thank you to The Fellowship for your faithful service!
Wow! What a day we had serving our friends on the streets of Brockton. We served over 100 people, had not a drop of chili left, and not a friend who went hungry. Praise God for all who prepared the meal and for sending everyone to us. We were so busy that it was difficult for many in the group to speak with friends we were serving, beyond the greetings in the serving line. However, for those of us who were able to, the conversations were rich. An impression left over and over after a day on the streets is the people we're serving feel the love of Christ through our actions and our words. For that we give God all the glory.
As you go about your week, please keep these specific needs in your prayers.
- Pray for Mark who is a drug user living on the streets and very much feeling hopeless. Mark doesn't see God having a better plan for him, but today he was willing to talk about it and pray about it. This is where change often begins.
- Praise God for Noah experiencing healing. His hands are still bent and he's unable to work, but he's no longer walking with a walker. Noah is thankful for the healing he's had.
- We celebrated James's birthday (yesterday) by singing Happy BIrthday to him and thanking God for his sunny disposition despite being wheelchair bound.
- Pray for Stephen who was released from prison on Friday. Stephen is living on the street at the moment, but hoping to find work as a barber - a job he previously had before his run-in with the law. Stephen is an alcoholic and prison did not deliver him from this. We prayed for delivery and for work for Stephen.
- Pray for Lucy who is a fentanyl addict and often comes to us in an altered state. However, many on our team who have spoken with Lucy see something deeper in her that is tender and truthful. and calling out for help.
- We praise God for answered prayer for Edgar who is now living with a friend. Every time we see Edgar, he is so emotionally moved by the kindness he's received from LYNN ministries. Edgar reminds us of the power of love shown in Christ's name. For Edgar and all we encounter, pray for the true transformation that only comes in Jesus.
