Jesus on the Streets (double header weekend) - July 17-18, 2021
It was a hot humid day in Brockton on day one of a doubleheader weekend. The Fellowship church provided the meal (meatball subs) and many of the volunteers.
The team served 93 meals across 4 locations and there was a lot of drama in the park but the team was able to steer clear of it. I’m still sidelined so Eric tracked today’s prayer requests: Davon has an opportunity for technical school in AZ but needs transportation to get there. Donnie has severe back pain - ruptured discs. Barbara is mourning the loss of her sister Julie due to overdose. Joe asked for prayer for his depression. Jack only wanted a better day today but wouldn't let us pray for him. David (Tank) wanted prayer to make good choices so he can live a better life. Robert will be visiting his son Elliot who has autism tomorrow. Junior gave his shoes to Dave S and asked for prayer about his blood pressure. Steve needs hip surgery and is now living in the shelter instead of under a bridge and is hoping to rebuild trust with his family. Dave S was on some kind of drugs and said he wants to go meet his maker. Mike only wanted a cup of water but was drawn to our service. Terrel is on the street and is #8 on the list for the shelter and was very appreciative of everything we gave him. Stevie hasn't eaten in 4-5 days and thinks he was poisoned and is praying that he would find out that God has something for him while he's still living. Kenny fell (again) and probably needs a walker rather than a cane. Tom hasn't been to see his PCP in years and really needs to go - hoping Greg can take him.
Stephanie (part of our team) probably prayed for 2x this many people but we don’t have any details.
Thank you to all who contributed to today’s success!
Day two of this doubleheader weekend was another hot humid day in Brockton where somehow (miraculously) the thunderstorms happened before and after (but not during) their service. Today, this team of 5 served quiche to 92 people in two locations, and they served 80 just at Pastor Roberto’s!
It was unfortunate the team was short-handed today because we didn’t get to write down as many prayers or take as many pictures. Murial is concerned about her daughter. John is worried about the plight of the homeless. Schaida is asking for God to help with her life and housing. Janet’s brother Paul has pancreatitis and is in hospice. Our friend Bobby is hoping to go to rehab tomorrow.
We are truly thankful for the friendships we experience on the streets and for all those who make it possible!
