Brockton - March 21, 2026
Saturday was a beautiful spring day in Brockton with temperatures in the low 50s, and a small team of 7 to serve on a 3rd Saturday (always busy with lots of clothes and toiletries to distribute). Fortunately, it was a steady stream of people rather than a big rush so we managed quite well as we served 75 meals and much more than that for snacks, drinks, and clothes.
There were more children coming for meals than normal, which was disturbing because the state usually does a good job looking after kids. Most of the time our ministry locations are family friendly, but not always.
We had volunteers from: Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, Grace Chapel
We made four stops including a drop-in at a local rehab to visit (Bruins) John who is recovering from surgery. He was so happy to see us, and even complimented our coffee! One of our other friends has epilepsy and had a very bad fall from a seizure. He’s very banged up. We visited another friend, Skip, in his room because he has COPD and can’t navigate the stairs.
Here are the prayers requests:
* Sheila seemed a bit down she could use prayers for encouragement.
* Michele is praying for a job.
* Raymond is praying for a job.
* Jonathan is praying that his wife will be able to move to Brockton.
* Louis has been outside for a while. He is asking for prayers for protection and for his children.
* Jenny has a number of health issues and is asking for prayers of healing.
* (Bruins) John is in rehab following some surgery. He needs prayers for healing.
* Anthony had a bad seizure and he’s pretty banged up. He needs prayer.
* Becca has been sober for six days. She did it cold turkey. She needs prayers for strength.
* Kenny had another fall and is getting tired of waiting for new/safer housing. He feels ready to quit. He needs prayers for encouragement.
* Manny was very happy about his new work boots and said thank you.
* Guillermo has been having trouble reading his Bible recently. I’m not sure if it’s his eyes or something else but he needs prayer because he really enjoys the Gospel of Luke.
* Skip is having trouble reading the Bible as well, especially the Old Testament where people live thousands of years. He has COPD and was not able to come down to visit us so we visited him in his room.
* Jimmy said thank you for his boots and is hoping to be moving to Stoughton at the beginning of April.
* Scotty is ecstatic because his daughter got a job. He had prayers of joy.
* Antoine is praying for peace and quiet.
* Tree said she needs permanent housing. She has been homeless for a decade since she turned 18.
* Seth is praying for a job. His wife has been ill and he needed to take care of the children and lost his job. Now he is ready to get back to work.
* Lily was so pleased to get clothes that created a nice outfit for her to go to church. She had prayers of joy.
* General prayer requests and blessings include: (Zamboni) John, Junior, Stanley, Sandy, Felix, Al, Lynda, Noah and Tyrone, Mary, Jax, Anna, Sean
We are so thankful for all your support and prayers, helping us be a flesh and blood Bible, in a place where paper Bibles are rare. God bless you all!
