Attleboro - March 14, 2026
Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team from Beacon Covenant Church, Attleboro that served in Attleboro on Saturday.
It was a fairly cold and windy day to be out serving God's children in Attleboro. We had a couple of new members serving with us, which is always exciting. The blizzard and other storms since our last serving day, caused so many problems for our friends living outside. Having the warming centers run by the Attleboro Area Interfaith Collaborative has been helpful, but it is a very temporary situation. Those centers close at 7am, so even on days when there is a storm, folks have to be back outside in the elements. The warming centers are only open from 7pm until 7am, and 100% staffed by volunteers.
Fortunately, LYNN Ministries, Beacon Covenant Church of Attleboro, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul District Council of Attleboro were able to partner together in an emergency manner to provide funding for additional lodging for about 18-20 of our homeless friends during the worst 4 days of the blizzard. We are grateful to be able to help in this way but hope for more permanent solutions. As we toured our campground sites, we noticed several tents that were standing last month, had been destroyed by the blizzard. We are hoping they can rebuild their campground, but we know this is a temporary solution. These folks really need housing. It is hard to estimate the number of folks living outside at any one time, but it could be between 25-35 based on estimates of what we've observed in some of the warming centers overnight. Please continue to pray for housing.
Praise God that some of us were on-site in the parking lot outside the Centenary Methodist church when a man fell and could not regain his feet. It took a few of us, but we were able to get him back up and, on his feet, and walked him slowly back to his car. Happy God put us there to help. Dino has donated some of his cowboy clothing collection! We'll try to find some folks to put them to good use. Thanks DIno!
Prayer List
Veronica - She is working at the supermarket but would really like more hours. Her building has also been sold, so she's anxious about a 3rd landlord in 4 years, and what could happen to the rent. Please pray for more work for Veronica and a stable living situation.
Dayna - Needs some help with getting her license renewed, car fixed and re-registered, as she looks for a new job. We will be looking to help her out this week with some of those needs. Please pray that we can help her accomplish these things.
Beth & Geno - Beth is having surgery on her neck April 1st. Please pray for pain relief and quick healing. She wants to get back to work as well and needs this surgery. As she and Geno are back living outside at least some nights, there are complications with everything. Please pray for peace and healing for Beth, and work for Geno.
Richard - He was happy to receive a new winter coat and is always in a happy mood. Please pray for continued healing for Richard from a stroke that he had some years ago. He's always adjusting to new challenges from that change in his life.
Dimitrie - New to living outside, he's trying to build some pallet shelters and help others in the tent village to get their tents off the ground, which will help a lot with protection from rain, snow, and critters. Getting the tents off the ground even a few inches is a big help.
Bob #1 - Bob checked himself into a rehab program in another town, and we hope that he recovers from his drinking problem. The fact that he checked himself in, is a great sign, and we pray that the Lord will continue to lead Bob to full recovery.
Bob #2 - We are still trying to help Bob get his license renewed, so that he can get unemployment due him. This would enable him to get a room, or apartment and stop living outside. It would also help him to get a stable environment to get back to work, which is what he really wants.
Eric & Carrie - Carrie is reconnecting slowly with her 2 daughters, and we just pray for the Lord's guidance in this process amongst everyone in the family, so that this can happen.
