Brockton - January 26, 2025

It was a cold but beautiful day in Brockton today as we served 103 meals (and even more hot drinks) across 3 locations, along with hats, gloves and blankets. We saw many of our long-time friends and there was a lot of joy throughout our time of service. One of our friends seems to suffer from bipolar disorder and they were extremely rude to everyone (it tests our patience) but everyone stayed calm and it was fine. We had team members from Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, and St. Mary's Foxboro.

So many people asked why we weren’t serving at Pastor Roberto Silveira church, where the city has been exerting a wide variety of pressure on him, and trying to drive the homeless out of town. (It seems clear that some city politicians have an un-Biblical view for how we are called to treat the least of these.) Especially in these cold temperatures people are desperate. We have heard of two deaths already from exposure, and neither has been reported in the news. (One of them, Ruben, was widely known but still nothing but silence.) Hmmmm. As a result, there were so, many, prayers (just look at how many people are asking for housing). This is why we serve on the streets.

- Bob is praying to keep his head straight and keep out of trouble
