Attleboro - December 14, 2024
Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team at Evangelical Covenant Church, Attleboro that served in Attleboro on Saturday.
Although a bit cold, it was another beautiful day to be out serving Jesus’ children in Attleboro. It was a special day for us for many reasons. This was the 3rd anniversary of LYNN Ministries being back out serving on the streets of Attleboro. We had been asked by the city government not to serve for a couple of years due to COVID, but now that is a distant memory. We are happy to be back with our friends. It was also our Christmas celebration, which we shared with all who we saw. Unfortunately, we were again not able to serve as many folks, as the city had a Christmas festival, and there was no meal served at the main stop that we serve folks. We found out later that there was a meal served at another location, so logistics were an issue. In any case, we were happy to serve 30 folks in person, and present them with Christmas gifts, cheer, prayer, hot drinks, warm clothing, hats, blankets, a tent, an empowerment coat, homemade baked goods, fruit, and snacks. We also welcomed new team members out to serve for the first time. They were very moved to meet and serve. We had 50 Christmas gifts to give out, and we delivered the remaining ones to the Waming Center, where they will be put to good use. You can see the Christmas gift bag contents below, all things needed by our friends.
We started off at our first stop in the woods, where it was still very cold, maybe 25 degrees. We met Paul, who is still living outside. He very much appreciated his Empowerment Coat, and appreciates prayers that he will find a room soon. Many of his friends had not yet returned to their campsite, from the warming center, where they had spent the night. We left presents and some orders for those that we knew would be returning to camp. We visited with Bob, who looked and sounded better than he had in some time. He was very thankful for his boots. He’s still working with his social worker to get a room somewhere for the winter. We prayed for John, who is really missing his brother Willy, who passed away earlier this year. John had been taking care of Willy for years, and he’s very lonely. Please pray for John. Mrs. LeBlanc was in good spirits as usual, but she had just had to pay for a big repair to her furnace at work, and now has to keep her home at a low temp of 64 to make up some of the cost. She will be spending Christmas with her grandson, and is thankful that she has some family not too far away. We were able to serve Eric and Carrie, and they were extremely thankful for the presents and everything that we were able to provide to them. They are still outside, and prospects for housing and work seem dim at the moment. Please pray for both of these things for them.
Please pray for Paul, Beth, Gino, Mike, Jess, Val, Bob, Sandy, Derek, George, John, Eric, and Carrie who are still living outside every day, and most nights. For Charlie, we are happy that he is now in New Hampshire with a room, and a job lead. Debby who had been outside off and on for years, is now relocated to Florida. Those prayers are working!
We are thankful for all who pray for and faithfully serve this ministry: A few shout outs from me, as it takes a lot to get everything done in time for Christmas serving day: Deb and Donna for getting the truck and contents ready, Delphi, who does our baking faithfully each and every month, the Beacon Covenant Church Exec Board, who put our Christmas gifts together, Monica who shopped for most of the gift items, and special orders, BCC Women’s Small Group, who hand wrote a Christmas card for each of our gift bags, and so many more folks who give and want to remain anonymous. Thanks for your love and support. Keep those prayers coming!
