Jesus on the Streets - March 10, 2024

Here is an update from Sunday’s team:

It was one of those days “when all things worked together for good.” (God is funny that way!) Tracey was supposed to have plans this afternoon but they fell thru which was a blessing because when one of the team members did not feel well and had to back out last minute, Tracey was able to joyfully take her spot… it was like that all day. Donna was busy distributing a bunch of specially requested items but there were a few items that were not picked up. Later we met James who really needed work boots .. We just happened to have a pair in his size . We were all so glad we were able to meet his needs and start to get to know this young man. Who has had a lot to overcome but seems determined to improve his situation. It’s amazing how often this happens week after week. Somehow God blesses us with just what we need to make everything work together for His Glory.

A little touch of Spring was in the air and most people were in a good mood. When the sun was shining it was really beautiful, when it dipped behind a cloud, it got cold and we remembered how hard it is to live on the streets.

We served 95 taco salad meals, along with fruit, snacks and a beautiful assortment of home baked cookies. Dinner smelled really good and we got lots of thank you’s not only for the food but for consistently showing up week after week.

Lots of folks requested prayer this week:

  • Roger feels like God is punishing him and doesn’t want prayer. (We pray for him in private.)

  • Anthony and Stephanie are praying for guidance and peace as they try to chart their future

  • Mara asks for an end to the frustration of not being able to provide a safe home for her daughter (just turned 13).

  • Luis wants prayer for Noe who is recovering from a stroke. (We were wondering about his health and it’s great to know how to pray.) and Luis’ sister has health problems

  • Jorge wants prayers to fix our broken world.

  • Allie has 2 friends out on the streets that she is worried about.

  • Angel has terminal leukemia and needs prayers.

  • Lisa Marie is asking for prayers for her back pain.

  • Lisa’s kidneys are failing and needs prayer.

  • Hajah asks for prayers for her daughter

  • Mike is praying for a new job for him so he can afford a better place for his girlfriend

  • Fred is praying for a place to live, renewal of his green card and a job

  • Angela is asking God for safety

  • George is suffering with leg pain

  • Russel is praying for better health

  • Eva needs a lot of prayer as she is living on the streets after her mom abandoned her and is struggling to stay safe (as all young women do on the streets)

  • Michelle is asking God for better health and housing

  • Minah is asking for prayers for her son’s safety as he is currently in prison

  • James is praying for help as his tools and clothes are gone after his truck was either stolen or towed. (He also has a teenage son.)

As you can see the team had a busy day. We thank them for serving the least of these on the streets of Brockton!
